Rangers ‘verbal agreement’, Arne Engels latest, EPL giants ‘talks’ - Scottish transfer news
All the latest Scottish transfer headlines on deadline day morning, with reports from Celtic, Rangers, Hibs, Aberdeen and beyond.
As we enter the final hours of the Scottish transfer window, the reports, completed deals and rumours are getting very interesting as clubs look to bolster their squads in the Scottish Premiership and beyond.
In your Monday morning’s transfer bulletin, we’ve got the latest reports from Celtic, Rangers, St Mirren and beyond:

EPL giants ‘talks’ with teen
St Mirren teenager Evan Mooney is in talks with English Premier League table toppers Arsenal over a move to the Emirates, according to reports. The 18-year-old has made 23 senior appearances for Stephen Robinson’s side since making his debut last January, with 11 of those appearances coming during this current campaign.
It is understood that the Gunners have been tracking the teenager’s progress for over a year and are now keen to strike up a deal for the midfielder. It’s claimed Mikel Arteta’s side is prepared to pay an initial fee of around £265,000 plus add-ons for Mooney, and wanted to sign him before the English transfer deadline shuts at 7pm this evening.
Further reports state that the Buddies could land a figure of up to £800,000 for the starlet if all add-ons are triggered in the move, with the Paisley outfit also insistent on including a sell-on fee for any future deal.

SPFL starlet in serious demand
Queen’s Park are facing a battle to hang onto key defender Henry Fieldson on deadline day after the 20-year-old emerged as a transfer target for ‘several’ clubs both in the Scottish Premiership and English Football League.
The centre-back has been a pivotal figure for the Spiders since arriving at the club from Sunderland in the summer of 2024, though the club would be powerless to resist a deal, with the English defender having a £30k release clause included in the deal that brought him to Sean Crighton’s side.
According to a report from Pete O’Rouke, Fieldson is now being tracked by a number of clubs across the country after stringing together a strong set of performances in the first half of the Scottish Championship campaign.

Rangers ‘verbal agreement’
Rangers look to have struck up a summer deal for striker Ryan Naderi, having reached a verbal agreement with Hansa Rostock.
According to Sky Sports, the German third-tier outfit is refusing to sanction a January exit for the 22-year-old, despite Rangers making an improved £3.1million bid for the former Borussia Monchengladbach forward last week. However, they are prepared to allow him to leave in the summer a price can be agreed upon.
The German frontman wants to move to Ibrox but, as things stand, is set to stay at the German third-division club for the rest of this season, where he has already scored eight goals in 11 appearances this season. The Glasgow giants had made an initial bid of £2.6million for Naderi, and improved the offer over the weekend. However, Hansa Rostock do not want to sell in the current window, meaning the two clubs have now entered talks over a summer deal instead.
Discussions over a loan move for Southampton forward Cameron Archer are also thought to be in doubt, with the EFL Championship side reluctant to sanction a transfer for the 24-year-old until they have found a replacement for Adam Armstrong, who is expected to join Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Rangers double departure
Staying with Rangers, the club could allow out-of-favour duo Danilo and Clinton Nsiala to depart the club on deadline day following late interest in the pair from across Europe. Both players are tipped to depart Ibrox on loan before the 11pm deadline, with Brazilian striker Danilo looking likely to return to the Eredivisie with NEC Nijmegen following an injury-hit three-season stay at the club, which has seen him score just 16 goals in 76 appearances.
Meanwhile, centre-back Nsiala looks likely to move to Belgian Pro League side Westerlo on loan after being made surplus to requirements. The 22-year-old joined the club on a free transfer from AC Milan last summer, but has failed to impress in his limited appearances, and has largely been an unused substitute during the current campaign, despite the club’s defensive injury crisis at the turn of the year. An option to buy will be included in any deal.

Arne Engels latest
Celtic manager Martin O’Neill admits he is hopeful of completing double deals for Lorient’s Joel Mvuka and Freiburg’s Junior Adamu before the window shuts, with the pair currently undergoing medicals at the club, according to the 73-year-old boss.
Despite O’Neill’s insistence that he would only sell him for £100million, rumours continue to swirl around his Belgian international midfielder Arne Engels, with reports claiming that Nottingham Forest launched an improved bid for the 22-year-old this morning. It was reported that Sean Dyche’s side had made an offer of £14million for the player over the weekend, though O’Neill insisted he wants to keep Engels at the club, and was unaware of any offer made following the 2-0 win over Falkirk, saying: “If they’ve done it, then they must've done it during the game.”
However, according to a report from Anthony Joseph this morning, Celtic have been forced to reject a second £17.3million offer from Nottingham Forest for the Belgian, with Celtic informing them that they will not allow the player to leave on deadline day. An £11million record signing from Augsburg in the summer of 2024, the young midfielder has scored 15 goals in 88 appearances across all competitions since his arrival at Celtic Park, and played a key role in the club’s Scottish Premiership title win last season.
Elsewhere, RB Salzburg have agreed a deal to sign Celtic target Damir Redzic. Sky Austria say the two clubs have agreed a fee of £4.1m for the winger, with add-ons and a sell-on clause included.
