Latest Scottish transfer news and speculation

Here is your Sunday lunchtime Scottish transfer round-up with updates from Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen and Hibs.

Hibs land target

Hibs are set to complete the signing of Felix Passlack before the transfer deadline.

The Easter Road club have targeted the VFL Bochum right wing-back throughout January and according to reports, a deal has now been agreed that will see the 27-year-old move to Edinburgh before the window shuts.

German media outlet Sky Sport say that the former Germany Under-21 international will sign a three-and-a-half year deal with David Gray's side with Hibs paying a transfer fee in the low six-figure range for a player who has made 82 appearances in the Bundesliga.

Hibs are also hoping to complete the signing of Slaven Belupo forward Ante Suto. The 25-year-old, who can play out wide or through the middle, has scored four goals and laid on five assists in the Croatian top flight this season.

Celtic agree 2 deals

Celtic are reportedly set to sign Norwegian winger Joel Mvuka from French side Lorient.

The 23-year-old has had limited game time this season, starting only five matches in Ligue 1 and making 10 substitute appearances without managing to contribute any goals or assists.

Mvuka was a £5million signing for Lorient from Bodo/Glimt in January 2023, although he returned to the Norwegian club for the remainder of that season on loan. He left Bodo/Glimt with eight goals and 15 assists in 84 appearances.

He spent the second half of the 2023-2024 campaign on loan at Swiss club Young Boys where he played regularly, managing two goals and one assist in 16 games. He returned to Lorient and played a key role in the club securing promotion from Ligue 2 last season. In total, he has played 52 times for his current club, registering three goals and three assists, but has been used as a back-up option in the top flight this term.

Mvuka was capped 16 times by Norway Under-21s, scoring three goals, and has dreams about representing his country at the World Cup this summer. "Of course I'm thinking about the World Cup," he said in a recent interview. "It's a big dream and a huge opportunity for me."

According to Sky Sports, a £3million deal has been agreed for Mvuka to join Celtic before Monday's transfer deadline.

Celtic have also struck a deal to sign striker Junior Amadu from SC Freiburg, according to Sky Sports DE. The 9-time Austria cap has struggled for regular game-time in Germany following his £6m move from RB Salzburg in 2023. It is believed that discussions centre around an initial loan move. Other clubs are said to be attempting to hijack the deal, but the reports claim that the player is already on his way to a medical ahead of a move to Parkhead.

Celtic were also speaking to Serie B club Frosinone over a move for French winger Fares Ghedjemis, but talks have now stalled. The Italian club wanted £6.5m for the attacker, but Celtic were unwilling to match that valuation. Dunajska Streda wunger Damir Redzic was another reported target but is set to sign for Red Bull Strazburg.

Rangers eye striker

Southampton manager Tonda Eckert has confirmed there are “conversations” over the future of striker Cameron Archer amid heightened interest from Rangers. The Ibrox club are keen to strike a deal for Archer, who was left out of the Saints squad for the first time since late November for their 2-0 win over Stoke City on Saturday afternoon.

Archer, 24, is not a first-team regular for the Championship side and with Rangers hoping to bring in another No 9 to compete with Youssef Chermiti and Bojan Miovski, they are working on multiple options to replenish their squad.

Rangers have had two bids for Hansa Rostock hitman Ryan Naderi turned down and if a deal is to be struck with the 3. Liga side, it is likely Naderi would be loaned back to the German outfit. It has led to Ibrox recruitment chiefs pressing on with other avenues and Archer - who was earlier in the transfer window linked with Celtic - is one of them.

On Archer’s situation, Eckert said: There's been some conversations going on over the last few days, and I also think there will be some news over the next two days."

Dons raid Bundesliga

Aberdeen are set to raid the German Bundesliga once again following the arrival of midfielder Afeez Aremu from Kaiserslautern last week.

According to Sky Sport DE, the Dons are now closing in on the loan signing of Hoffenheim midfielder Dennis Geiger with a potential option to buy still being negotiated.

The 27-year-old is due to arrive in the Granity City for a medical on Sunday with Aberdeen sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel convincing a player he has known since the age of 14 to move to Pittodrie.

It is claimed that Ajax, Besiktas, AEK Athens and Panathinaikos were also interested in Geiger, who has racked up a total of 125 Bundesliga appearances over the course of eight seasons in Kraichgau.
