Scotland open their 2026 Guinness Six Nations campaign on Saturday against Italy in Rome and Gregor Townsend will name his team on Thursday.
There were injury concerns around Jack Dempsey (foot), Jamie Dobie (knee), Dave Cherry (calf) and Ewan Ashman (neck) but all are now on the mend.
Here's what I think the starting XV will look like as the Scots look to make a winning start in the championship for the sixth year in a row.

5. Grant Gilchrist
Likely to resume his second-row partnership with Cummings. The most experienced forward in the squad. | SNS Group

6. Jamie Ritchie
Playing well in France with Perpignan but whether he starts or not is likely to hinge on Jack Dempsey's fitness. | SNS Group / SRU

7. Rory Darge
Co-captain in last season's Six Nations and one of the national team's most consistent performers. | SNS Group / SRU

8. Matt Fagerson
Another of the Glasgow contingent who has been excellent in the Warriors' European campaign. Likely to start but could be six or eight depending if Jack Dempsey is fit. | SNS Group
