With less than three weeks until Christmas, the Dogs Trust is on a mission to find the dogs in its care the one gift they all want – a home for life.
The Dogs Trust penned the famous phrase “A Dog is for Life, Not Just for Christmas” back in 1978, and they are looking for people to share their Christmas and their life with a pooch this festive season.
Big-hearted potential dog owners will be happy to adopt a pet that is looking for a new forever home after perhaps not having the best start in life.
To see if you’re a potential match, just fill in an application form here with all your details and let the Dogs Tust match you up with a suitable pet.
They’ll then look at how closely your lifestyle matches the needs of the dog and, if you’re a great fit for your selected animal, they’ll invite you to meet your prospective pup.
They may also organise a home check to make sure it’s suitable for your new family member.
You can also pop into the rehoming centre before submitting the application to see the dogs beforehand.
Here are 13 of the dogs currently looking for a home.

5. Rocky
Rocky is a sweet little Frenchie who loves to spend time with his favourite people! He builds a strong bond to his human friends and is looking to live in a home with one or two adults. Rocky loves to spend his day playing with toys and having snuggles. Out on his walks, Rocky prefers to sniff and take in the scenes rather than socialising, he is more than happy to pass other dogs but would rather dogs didn't come to say hello. Rocky gets excited for his walks but isn't a fan of the cold weather but once he's got one of his stylish coats on to keep him warm, he's more than happy to get going. Rocky is housetrained and non-destructive in the home, however he does like to chew on some of his toys! Could you be the one for this wonderful little boy? | Dogs Trust

6. Rocco
Rocco is a 4-year-old Staffordshire bull terrier looking for a loving home. He adores spending time with his favourite people! Rocco is a super smart lad and loves to spend his day keep his mind busy. Rocco would prefer to walk in quiet areas where he can relax and avoid other dogs. He is looking for an experienced adult only home that can continue with his ongoing training. Rocco is looking for owners that can be at home with him most of the day to help him settle in. He would like a garden of his own where he can sniff around and play - especially his favourite game fetch! He is an active boy who will make a great, fun companion. Can you offer him a loving home? | Dogs Trust

7. Elsa
Gorgeous Elsa is a very sweet girl who greets her human friends with a very wiggly body and smiley face! Elsa sadly hasn't had the best start in life, so she is looking for a home with no pets and children aged 16 years and above. She can take her time to get to know people, but once comfortable, she loves a belly rub! She will even ask you for more cuddles by giving you a paw! Elsa is a worried girl at heart and finds certain things a bit scary, including the car. She is currently working with the training team at our centre, getting more and more confident every day, and is looking for a caring family who can continue to build her confidence in her new home and work with the training team to support her. Elsa loves her treats and already knows a few cues including 'basket' where she will hop into her cozy bed for a nap. Elsa is happy to walk by other dogs, however, can feel uncomfortable interacting with them and much prefers quiet, peaceful walks where she can enjoy exploring with her family. Elsa loves being in the company of her favourite humans and would benefit from someone who can slowly build up her leaving hours while she settles into her new home. This gorgeous girl has so much love to give, and is on the look out for an experienced understanding family who can give her the time, patience and love she so deserves. Could this be you? | Dogs Trust

8. Jack
Jack is a 4 year old Shetland Collie Crossbreed who enjoys the calmer side of life. He is a sweet boy who enjoys to potter and mooch around. Once he gets to know you we will come over with a waggy tail for a gentle fuss. Jack enjoys his walks but will need rural walking areas away from any hustle and bustle. He is a friendly boy with people and dogs, but doesn't seek much interaction, he enjoys the quiet side of life. He would like to be the only pet in the home but could live with older primary school aged children. Jack came into our care with an unknown history, however has shown he is a clever boy and knows his name, sit and is housetrained. He loves to spend time with his people and will be your shadow in the home! Jack will need his new family to be around for most of the day and build up how long he is left home alone for. His favourite things are some tasty chicken and his ball! | Dogs Trust
