Scotland were edged out by New Zealand once again after losing 25-17 to the All Blacks in a gripping match at Murrayfield.
Scotland trailed 17-0 at the interval as the visitors - despite having Leroy Carter yellow-carded - threatened to run away with a win after tries from Cam Roigard and Will Jordan.
It was to Scotland’s immense credit that they rallied after the break and the score was pegged back to 17-17 on the hour mark after tries from Ewan Ashman and Kyle Steyn and seven points from Finn Russell.
The All Blacks, however, showed why the are one of the best teams in the world and a try and penalty from replacement Damian McKenzie late on put the game out of Scotland’s reach.
It means Scotland’s wait for a win over New Zealand goes on, with the record now two draws and 31 defeats against the All Blacks.
We give the players a mark out of ten for their performance.

5. Grant Gilchrist
An absolute veteran of such occasions. Ran the lineout well and was diligent at the breakdown. Came off for Sykes. 6 | SNS Group / SRU

6. Gregor Brown
Earned a penalty after ten minutes with some good jackeling but was then pinged himself for not rolling away. In the thick of it throughout and showed why he is going to be a big part of the Scotland back-row for years to come. 7 | SNS Group / SRU

7. Matt Fagerson
Early knock-on stopped a promising attack in its tracks. Carried pretty well and supported attacks as Scotland staged a comeback. Replaced by Darge. 6 | SNS Group / SRU

8. Jack Dempsey
A monster carrier. Always thrashing into collisions and had one interception that so nearly led to a try. An important player in the Scotland pack. Replaced by Bayliss. 7 | SNS Group / SRU
