It has been over years since Rangers confirmed the appointment of former Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard as their new manager, all the way back in 2018. But could he be set to make a sensational return to Ibrox?
The last Gers boss to win the Scottish Premiership trophy in Govan has emerged as one of the leading contenders to be the next Rangers boss following the sacking of Russell Martin on Sunday evening.
His stint in charge of Rangers largely successful, Gerrard’s first summer transfer window saw him recruit the likes of Ryan Kent, Borna Barisic and, perhaps less memorably, George Edmundson. In total, there were 42 players who came through the doors at Ibrox during his reign - but who offered Rangers the most?
Here we rank all 42 Rangers players signed by Gerrard from worst to best and ask - where are they now?

29. John Lundstram
A free transfer signing from Sheffield United, the midfielder will be remembered as the man who scored the goal that took Rangers to the final of the Europa League - but also remembered as someone who put pay to Rangers' Scottish Premiership title hopes when he was needlessly sent off in a 2-1 Old Firm defeat during the 2023/24 campaign. Spent a season with Trabzonspor last year, but moved back to the UK with Hull City in the summer, joining on a season long loan deal. | SNS Group Photo: SNS Group

30. Filip Helander
The big Swedish defender was absolutely fantastic during the club's invincible run that led to the Scottish Premiership title. He also scored a memorable winning goal against Celtic at Ibrox. Injury wrecked the rest of his time with the club, and he left upon the expiry of his contract in 2023. 31. Borna Barisic
The Croatian left-back struggled for form towards the end of his Ibrox career. However, Barisic was a big player during the Gerrard era and was pivotal in their Scottish Premiership title win and the run to the Europa League final under Giovanni van Bronckhorst. 32. Leon Balogun
Signed on a free transfer from Wigan Athletic in the summer of 2020, the Nigerian defender never let Rangers down and has won every domestic honour over his two spells with the club. Well respected by everyone at the club, he left in the summer to join Aris Limassol, where he partner former teammate Connor Goldson at centre-back. | SNS Group Photo: SNS Group
