Scotland began their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign with a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Denmark in Copenhagen.
Steve Clarke’s side put in a dogged and disciplined performance against the Group C top seeds at the Parken Stadion - and created a few moments of note of their own in what could prove to be a precious point in the quest to make the tournament in the Americas next summer.
In a match of few chances, Scotland defended resolutely, with the biggest scare coming when sub Max Johnston survived a VAR check for a red card just moments after coming on.
The draw against the Danes will give Scotland great heart as they head to Hungary next to face Belarus behind closed doors at the ZTE Arena. They lost their opening match 5-1 away to Greece in Piraeus.
We give each player a mark out of ten for their performance against the Danes in Copenhagen.

9. Ryan Christie
Winning his 60th cap, Christie was asked to play left of a tight midfield four. He was involved heavily. Put in a great ball in on 25 minutes and then curled over on 32 minutes from promising area. Headed a really good chance wide from McGinn cross on 39 minutes. Booked just before the break for a high tackle on Hojbjerg that flirted with red and was taken off towards the end. 6 | PA

10. Lyndon Dykes
Had Scotland's first chance on 14 minutes but didn't make proper contact with his header. Big moment on 59 minutes when set clear by Adams but took too long in getting effort away. Gave Scotland a focal point but never looked like scoring. Came off for Gannon-Doak towards the end. 5 | PA

11. Che Adams
On his 40th cap, the Torino striker really toiled to retain possession to begin with. Full of running and effort, this was a totally different game to his last Scotland outing, when he scored a hat-trick against Liechtenstein. Never presented with a proper goalscoring opportunity and came off for Hirst after running his race. 5 | Ritzau Scanpix/AFP via Getty Ima

12. Max Johnston
There was a heart-in mouth moment for the right-back just moments after coming on, when a VAR check was called for a handball. Fortunately, the German referee Daniel Siebert decided he was not denying a clear goalscoring opportunity. Recovered well to defend really diligently for 25 minutes. 4 | PA
