Scotland are on the search for a new manager after long-serving head coach Steve Clarke’s decision to resign amid their group stage exit at the World Cup.
Following the sudden departure of Clarke, the Scottish FA’s Chief Executive Ian Maxwell admitted that "nothing is off the table" as they begin the search for his successor, with many wondering if the governing body would now actively consider a foreign coach to take the national team forward.
But if Scotland were to consider their first non-Scottish boss since Berti Vogts over two decades ago, which managers would fit the bill? Here, we look at seven foreign managers who could be considered as potential next Scotland manager:

5. Ange Postecoglou
The current favourite for the role, Postecoglou has several benefits to Scotland. Vastly experienced coach on the international stage, he managed Australia for four years little over a decade ago, while he also had a distinct knowledge of Scottish football in part due to his supremely successful two year stint with Celtic. Scotland fans are desperate to entertained too, and the Aussie boss could bring a high-tempo, high-octane, attacking brand of football that made him so popular at Celtic Park. | Owen Humphreys/PA Wire Photo: Owen Humphreys/PA Wire

6. Roberto Martinez
A highly experienced international coach, Martinez has led both Belgium and Portugal into the latter stages of tournaments, and could be available at the end of the World Cup. Linked to the Celtic job last season, he has links to Scotland spent time in the top flight during his playing career, while his wife is also Scottish. He also years working alongside former Scotland international Shaun Maloney, who served as his assistant manager for Belgium. Ambitious, but not impossible.

7. Jurgen Klinsmann
An alternative option could be that of Klinsmann. Out of work since leaving South Korea two years ago, the 61-year-old could bring an attacking philosophy, and has extensive tournament experience having managed Germany and the United States at the World Cup. Previously worked with Mark Fotheringham as part of his coaching staff, indicating he has a knowledge of the Scottish game, too.
