It’s approaching the end of the first week of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and the reviews have been pouring in.
With the physical programme containing over 3,350 shows across 265 venues, it can be a daunting task to work out what exactly you are going to see.
At The Scotsman we review hundreds of shows every year, with the best receiving a sought-after four or five star rating.
This year we have yet to award a comedy show with a rare five stars, but there have been several that have earned four stars.
More importantly, several of those still have ticket availability for this weekend (August 8-10) so you can go and see what all the fuss is all about (bad luck if you wanted to see American star Rosie O’Donnell though - she’s totally sold out after her four star review earlier in the week).
Here are 12 four star comedy shows our team of critics would recommend you see this weekend.

9. Sam Nicoresti: Baby Doomer
Sam Nicoresti is proving so popular that extra shows have been announced for Summerhall on top of their regular 5.40pm slot at the Pleasance Courtyard. There are still tickets left for this weekend, as well as the rest of their run until August 24, but that's unlikely to last. What we said: "Blessed with an interrogative intelligence and self-lacerating streak, they're living at the vanguard of social upheaval." | Contributed

10. Jain Edwards: She-Devil
Jain Edwards has sold out her Friday and Saturday shows thie weekend - but you can still catch her at 4.15 at the Underbelly Bristo Square on Sunday. There's also good availabilty for the rest of her run until August 25. What we said: "With some exceptionally winsome surrealism, Jain Edwards' dementedly good show is delivered with matter-of-fact, singsong positivity." | Contributed

11. Helen Bauer: Bless Her
Helen Bauer has yet to sell out any of the shows on her Fringe run until August - but don't delay if you want to see her this weekend at 3.20pm at the Monkey Barrel. What we said: "Bauer has not only created an important show, but has created the right conditions for her funniest hour yet." | Contributed

12. Joe Tracini: Ten Things I Hate About Me
There are also tickets left for all of Joe Tracini's shows between now and August 24 at 8.25 at the Underbelly Bristo Square. What we said: "And he earns his ovation for more than just getting through the performance, having elicited consistent laughs while educating." | Contributed
