It’s approaching the end of the first week of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and the reviews have been pouring in.
With the physical programme containing over 3,350 shows across 265 venues, it can be a daunting task to work out what exactly you are going to see.
At The Scotsman we review hundreds of shows every year, with the best receiving a sought-after four or five star rating.
This year we have yet to award a comedy show with a rare five stars, but there have been several that have earned four stars.
More importantly, several of those still have ticket availability for this weekend (August 8-10) so you can go and see what all the fuss is all about (bad luck if you wanted to see American star Rosie O’Donnell though - she’s totally sold out after her four star review earlier in the week).
Here are 12 four star comedy shows our team of critics would recommend you see this weekend.

5. Twonkey's Zip Wire To Zanzibar
'Twonkey's Zip Wire To Zanzibar' is part of the Free Festival, but you can guarantee a seat by 'paying what you can' from £5 and there's availabilty for every show at 8.15pm at the Dragon Fly between now and August 24. What we said: "He is the closest we have to a comedy Salvador Dali, creating surreal worlds, and populating his with a motley collection of moth eaten puppets." | Contributed

6. Hasan Al-Habib: Death to the West (Midlands)
Hasan Al-Habib has sold out this Saturday's 4.30pm show at the Pleasance Courtyard but has added an extra one at 9.50pm. There's also good availability for the rest of his run, lasting until August 24. What we said: "In this compelling debut, the comic negotiates the difficulties of his cultural identity. Entertaining stuff." | Canva/Getty Images

7. Josie Long: Now Is The Time of Monsters
Remarkably there are still tickets left for all dates of Fringe favourite Josie Long's show at the Pleasance Dome every evening at 7pm. What we said: "It’s political – after all it is Josie Long – but it’s also deeply personal, domestic and delightfully playful." | Contributed

8. Alan Resnick: One Funny Hour
If you're looking for a late night show there are still tickets left for every night of Alan Resnick's 11.25pm show at the Monkey Barrel. It runs until August 24. What we said: "One Funny Hour is once seen, never forgotten." | Contributed
