It’s summer in Glasgow, with the schools off and the Fair Fortnight underway.
It means the city’s a little quieter than usual, but that doesn’t mean that there’s not plenty on.

5. Bard in the Botanics
Remarkably there are still tickets left for this evening's Bard in the Botanics production of 'Romeo & Juliet'. The much-loved Shakespeare play will be performed in the open air at Glasgow's lush Bontanic Gardens. Bring your own seat, a picnic, midge repellant, and pray the weather stays dry for the star-crossed lovers. Tickets are priced from £15. | Contributed

6. Family films at a nice price
If you're looking to entertain the kids during the summer holidays but want to save cash, then Cineworld have a great deal at the moment - family films for just £1 per ticket. Today the Renfrew Street cineman has 'Dog Man' screening at 10am and 'A Minecraft Movie' on at 10.10am. | Contributed

7. Have an art attack
Another cheap (free!) way to while away a couple of hours in the city is to pop into Glasgow's Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA). As well as enjoying the permanent exhibitions, which includes work by many of the biggest names in contemporary art, you can also check out the current show by Canadian/Irish artist Ciara Phillips. 'Undoing it' showcases her vibrant woodcuts, etchings and screen-prints in Gallery 3. | Google Maps

8. Catch an outdoor film screening
There are a series of free films being shown this month at Glasgow's Queen's Park Arena. There are still tickets available (there's no charge but you do need to book in advance) for today's screenings of 'Up' at 1.30pm and 'Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels' from 6pm. | Contributed
