We may only be halfway through 2023, but thoughts are already turning to the 2024 Academy Awards.
The coming weeks will see two of the most eagerly-anticipated films of the year released – Greta Gerwig’s ‘Barbie’ and Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’.
Both are expected to be in the hunt when it comes to awards season, as well as becoming big box office hits, along with a host of other movies coming to screens over the next seven months.
Here are the 10 that are tipped to win the award for Best Picture.

9. The Colour Purple
This is the second time that a screen adaptation of Alice Walker's novel The Color Purple will have hit the big screen - Steven Spielberg's 1995 film was nominated for 11 Oscars. The new film, directed by Blitz Bazawule, is based on the stage musical of the same name and stars Fantasia Barrino and Danielle Brooks, who are reprising the roles they played on stage. It's 12/1 for Best Picture and is released in the UK on January 26, 2014. | Contributes

10. Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse
The second part of a trilogy of head-spinning animated superhero multiverse films, Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse has to be the hot favourite to take home of the Oscar for Best Animated Feature Fiilm. With a runtime of 140 minutes, it is the longest animated film ever produced by an American studio, and is 12/1 to win Best Picture at the Academy Awards. It's already out in the UK. | Contributed
