It’s the start of a big year for the band - who are also playing a string of outdoor gigs over the summer.

Formed in London in 2007, Florence and the Machine (or Florence + the Machine) shot to fame with debut album Lungs in 2009, hitting number one in the UK charts after 65 weeks in the top 40.

Centred around the dramatic vocals of lead singer Florence Welsh, that album won them the Brit Award for Best British Album 2010 to add to the Critic’s Choice Award received at the ceremony a year earlier.

Further success has followed with another five studio albums, most recently last year’s critically-acclaimed Everybody Scream.

In 2015 Welch became the first British female artist of the 21st century to headline Glastonbury, while the band have been nominated for six Grammy Awards.

The band are currently embarking on a UK stadium tour and there’s good news for Scottish fans - with a date in Glasgow.
