Under the Radar: Taupe

The band consists of Mike Parr-Burman (guitar, bass guitar, electronics), whose first musical obsession at the age of seven was the band Steps, along with Jamie Stockbridge (alto and baritone saxophones) and the ubiquitous Alex Palmer (drums and percussion). Self-described exponents of skronking (the act of producing raw, harsh, and intentionally discordant sounds, particularly using the saxophone or electric guitar) they have been featured on 6 Music, Radio 3, RTE and Resonance FM and count comedian Stewart Lee as a fan.

The band have toured extensively across the UK and Europe, with new musical ideas usually road-tested on live audiences before being honed during the recording process.

Earlier this year, Taupe released the album waxing | waning on Prague vinyl label Minority Records, which was recorded in a Glasgow studio previously occupied by an undertaker. They play the Hug & Pint in Glasgow on 27 March and Leith Cricket Club on 28 March, followed by European shows in April and June, see www.linktr.ee/taupetaupetaupe
