Under the Radar: PIVOTS

Incorporating live music, virtual reality, projection mapping and more, PIVOTS have developed an ambitious performance style, write Olaf Furniss and Derick Mackinnon
Comprising Roman Rappak (formerly of Breton) and Pol Sibil, PIVOTS combine new wave, shoegaze and sample-based pop with an ambitious approach to live performance. Their latest single Fake News has earned support from John Kennedy on Radio X and iHeart Radio, alongside coverage from EARMILK and Music News Monthly. Live credentials already include Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival, SXSW in Texas, Sŵn Festival in Cardiff, Barcelona’s OFFF and Supersonic in Paris.
Rappak has lived between Glasgow and Paris, recording and touring across Scotland, and he recently contributed to South Lanarkshire Leisure & Culture’s Future Pathways programme, bringing internationally acclaimed choreographers, dancers and PIVOTS collaborators TwinCity to Scotland.
Alongside conventional gigs, PIVOTS have developed an immersive performance style combining live music, VR, projection mapping and game engines. Their next UK tour includes dates at PLAYBACK Festival in Cardiff on 16-17 September, Glasgow’s Hug and Pint on 18 September alongside Cathal Fitz, and Edinburgh’s Sneaky Pete’s on 19 September with UTR favourites The Demographic and Harry Miles-Watson & the Union, see https://pivotsband.com/
