THE man behind the new American TV show billed as Scotland’s answer to Game of Thrones is to make a special appearance at the Edinburgh TV Festival.

Ronald D Moore, the executive producer of Outlander, will be appearing in the city just days after Diana Gabaldon, the US author whose best-selling series of historic fantasy novels have inspired the show, speaks at the book festival.

Outlander charts the adventures of a nurse propelled back in time from just after the Second World War to the time of the Jacobite Rebellion.

Moore, who is best known for his work on the series Battlestar Galactica, launched Outlander, which has been in filming in Scotland since last autumn, last weekend at the huge Comic-Con event in San Diego.

Moore will be at the TV festival on 22 August to discuss his appearance in Showrunners, a new feature length documentary about the figures behind some of the world’s biggest television series.
