More than 120 events involving 175 authors from Scotland and beyond are set to showcase a broad range of subjects and genres at the Aye Write festival from May 19-28.
The talks, readings and discussions will take place at the Mitchell Library and the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, with tickets on sale now by clicking here.
Festival organisers say that: “A range of current topics and cultural themes underpin our carefully curated programme, with content focusing on subjects as diverse as the cost-of-living crisis, the war in Ukraine, health and wellbeing, the environment and climate crisis, today’s political environment in the UK, sport, and the criminal justice system.”
Here are 10 of the well kent faces making an appearance at this year’s event – and what they’ll be talking about.

9. Frankie Boyle and Josie Long
Controversial Scottish comedian and author Frankie Boyle will be speaking to fellow standup Josie Long about her book Because I Don’t Know What You Mean and What You Don’t at the Royal Concert Hall on May 21 at 6pm. Each tale in the collection of stories paints a life in miniature and offers an escape chute from the catastrophes of modern life. Peppered with the acclaimed comedian's trademark warmth and wit, these stories feature quirky, richly drawn characters and delightfully unpredictable plotlines. Photo: Contributed

10. Alastair Campbell
Spin doctor, political pundit and podcaster Alastair Campbell will be at the Glasgow Concert Hall on May 20 at 7.45pm. He'll be talking about his latest book But What Can I Do? Why Politics Has Gone So Wrong And How You Can Help Fix It. It is part call to arms, part practical handbook and looks at the state of politics across the UK. Alistair proposes that we can’t stand on the side-lines when we are confronted with policies that serve the interests of the few and when faced with the culture of lies from Governments that works to undermine democratic values. It's no surprise that so many of us feel frustrated, let down and drawn to ask, 'But what can I do?' Photo: Ian MacNicol
