Tiger Woods makes call on US Ryder Cup captaincy in Ireland
15-time major winner tells PGA of America his decision for Adare Manor match
Tiger Woods will not be the US captain for next year’s Ryder Cup at Adare Manor Golf Club in Ireland.
The 15-time major winner had been offered the post by the PGA of America and had been mulling over the opportunity over the past few weeks.
But he has now decided that he will not be the man trying to stop European captain Luke Donald from creating history in County Limerick as he bids to pull off three straight wins in the biennial clash.

It follows Woods announcing earlier in the week that he has decided to step away from professional golf and focus on his health following a fourth car accident last week in Florida.
“We commend Tiger for prioritising his long-term health and deeply respect the courage it takes to make such a personal decision,” said a statement from the PGA of America late on Wednesday.
“Tiger has shared with us that he will not serve as captain of the 2027 US Ryder Cup team and we support his decision.”
Woods was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following the accident last Friday in Jupiter Island, where the 50-year-old lives. He pleaded not guilty to the charges on Tuesday.
Keegan Bradley could be captain again
Keegan Bradley, who led the Americans at Bethpage Black last year, could now be the man asked by the PGA of America once again to captain the team in Ireland next September.
Another option could be former Open champion Justin Leonard, who has thrown his hat into the ring.
The next opportunity for Woods to be a Ryder Cup captain will be at Hazeltine in 2029, with the match after that being staged at Camiral in Spain two years later.
