Scottish Golf unveils new coaching panel aimed at 'driving results at highest level'
Programme hailed as ‘big step towards an accessible, open system with clear pathway structures’
Scottish Golf has unveiled a new coaching panel aimed at getting the best out of young talent around the country.
Six Regional Performance Coaches have been appointed by the governing body following a “highly-competitive recruitment process”.
The group includes two former Scottish champions in Alexander Culverwell, who won the Scottish Amateur Championship in 2013, and Alyson McKechin, who landed the Scottish Women’s Amateur Championship the same year.
They are joined on the new Regional Performance Development Programme coaching panel by Oliver Morton, Karyn Dallas, Andy Cheese and Calum Lawson.

The RPDP opened to applications in July, offering up to 80 places across Scotland, with up to 48 players beginning training and development sessions as soon as next month. The programme aims to provide more players with access to “high-quality coaching, development opportunities and performance support”.
It is designed to create a “consistent, structured development approach across Scotland” and “strengthen the pipeline of players” that will drive results at the highest level.
The £188,000 a year investment is jointly funded by Scottish Golf and sportscotland, the national agency for sport in Scotland. #
“We are really excited about what the Regional Performance Development Programme will offer in how we develop the talent pipeline in Scotland,” said Clare Queen, Scottish Golf’sHead of Performance and Pathway.
“This is a big step towards an accessible, open system with clear pathway structures for those golfers who demonstrate a commitment to reaching the highest levels of the game.
“I’m particularly looking forward to working with our six new coaches, all who bring passion and a wealth of experience with them.”
