Sandy Scott secures 2027 PGA Tour card after win worth $270,000

Nairn man becomes seventh Korn Ferry Tour player this season to secure ‘TourBound’ ticket

Sandy Scott will be flying the Saltire along with Bob MacIntyre on the PGA Tour next season after the Nairn man secured his step up from the Korn Ferry Tour in style on Sunday.

Closing with a six-under-par 65 for a tournament record-breaking 18-under-par total, Scott won the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship by a shot as he landed a maiden win on the second-tier circuit in the US.

The success saw the 28-year-old being declared ‘TourBound’, becoming the seventh player to be in that position, and he is up to second on the 2026 Korn Ferry Tour Points List with just two events remaining this season.

“A little bit speechless, to be honest,” admitted Scott in reply to being asked afterwards how it felt that he was officially now a PGA Tour member. “It’s been a weird journey and just so happy.”

It was always believed that Scott had the talent to go all the way to the top, having enjoyed an outstanding amateur career on home soil before taking his game to the next level during a spell at Texas Tech. He then picked up a nasty wrist injury six years ago, which required two separate surgeries and didn’t touch a golf club for 17 months.

After turning professional, Scott started out on the PGA Tour Americas circuit, earning Korn Ferry Tour membership for the first time through finishing eighth in the 2024 points list on the third-tier tour, achieving that feat off the strength of a runner-up finish at the season-ending Fortinet Cup Championship.

In his first year as Korn Ferry Tour member, the former Walker Cup player finished 55th in the points battle to retain full status for this season and, in truth, a breakthrough win worth $270,000 was coming.

In the last few weeks alone, Scott had finished joint-fourth in the AdventHealth Championship before going into his latest assignment on the Scarlet Course at Ohio State University Golf Club in Columbus on the back of a second-placed effort in the Simmons Bank Open for the Snedeler Foundation.

Jumping up from 13th in the standings to second, he joined Ross Steelman, Doc Redman, Ian Holt, Alistair Docherty, Alvaro Ortiz and Cole Sherwood in securing a ‘TourBound’ ticket.

“So many beers,” said Scott, laughing, in reply to being asked what his celebration would look like. “I’m hoping Russell [Knox] is around and we’ll maybe tuck into the tequila!”

Scott will officially receive his PGA Tour card at the season-ending Korn Ferry Tour Championship, which takes place in three weeks’ time in Virginia.
