'World class' - change of role for Glasgow Warriors' Mr Versatile in 1872 Cup
One personnel change for Hampden clash with Edinburgh
Jamie Dobie has been hailed as “world class” by Franco Smith after the Glasgow Warriors coach switched him from scrum-half to wing for Saturday’s 1872 Cup first leg against Edinburgh.
The versatile back started at nine in the historic win over Toulouse in the Investec Champions Cup at the weekend but moved to the wing when George Horne came on early in the second half.
Glasgow are short of cover in the back three for the game at Hampden and Dobie will begin out wide as Horne returns to the starting side at nine.

Horne’s inclusion is the only change to the Warriors XV, with full-back Josh McKay dropping out due to a hamstring injury. Ollie Smith moves from left wing to 15 to replace McKay, opening the door for Dobie’s switch.
With Kyle Rowe and Fergus Watson also sidelined by injury, Glasgow don’t have their troubles to seek in that area but Franco Smith has faith in Dobie.
“He's a world-class rugby player,” said the Warriors head coach. “During the summer, I noted that our depth would be challenged repeatedly this season. Hopefully, in this whole process, we still get an opportunity to see some of our young boys stepping up soon.”
He also praised Horne who was outstanding against Toulouse as Glasgow turned around a 21-0 deficit at half-time to win 28-21.
“George is a team player,” said Smith. “He's a man that wants the team to win, and he will always apply himself the way we want. He's got a specific skill set that we used in a specific way last weekend for the right purpose. He performed exactly like we hoped.
“He's now got a different job to do for us this week, a different plan. Hopefully, he gets that right and will progress his game. I think he's maturing. In previous years, there were some errors around his game that he's now ironed out. He's very consistent and brings very good energy to us.”
