Ex-Glasgow Warriors favourite clinches Super Rugby move at 38
Olympic gold medallist leaving French rugby
Leone Nakarawa, the popular former Glasgow Warriors forward, has clinched a move to Super Rugby and will line up for Fijian Drua.
The brilliantly gifted lock had two spells in Scottish rugby with the Warriors and has most recently been playing for Castres in France.
He is now returning home at the age of 38 and is set to play in next year’s Super Rugby Pacific competition.

“Looking forward to be playing for the Drua and playing professional and staying [in] Fiji,” Nakarawa said.
A Pro12 winner
Nakarawa was part of Glasgow’s Guinness Pro12-winning side of 2015, and was named man of the match as the Warriors defeated Munster in the final in Belfast. He left the club the following year to join Racing 92 in Paris but returned to Glasgow in 2020.
His second stint at Scotstoun was less successful and he headed back to France to play for Toulon and then Castres. The move to Drua will be his first time in Super Rugby.
“Leone is a quality person, quality leader and big game player,” said Baden Stephenson, Fijian Drua’s general manager.
Olympic gold
“We are excited to bring someone of his vast experience into the forward pack. It will be very special seeing Leone represent his family, village and country in the Super Rugby competition.”
Nakarawa is a huge figure in Fijian rugby and has represented his homeland at three Rugby World Cups. Most memorably, he also helped Fiji win gold in the rugby sevens at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
