Rugby: Turnbull will be key for Scots sevens bid
Scotland sevens coach Graham Shiel has hailed Edinburgh winger Andy Turnbull as a likely key performer when the IRB grand prix circuit concludes at Murrayfield this weekend.
The Scots produced three second-day wins to claim the Bowl at Twickenham yesterday climaxed by an injury-time try against Kenya converted by Peter Horne for a 21-19 win.
Shiel said: "Turny took the initiative and everyone else reacted to him.
"We don't have many players in Scottish rugby, full stop, who can split a defence and finish off from 50 metres."
Those remarks will come as a boost to Turnbull as he waits to learn whether he has secured a contract extension at Edinburgh Rugby.
Meanwhile, Shiel believes the home side have momentum going into a section comprising Fiji, Samoa and the USA, saying: "It's great to be able to build on success. We have to feed off that."
