Race to Dubai leader confirms Nexo Championship date on Donald Trump course
Patrick Reed will be among Grant Forrest’s rivals when Scot defends title in Aberdeenshire
Patrick Reed, the current Race to Dubai leader, has handed the upcoming Nexo Championship a huge boost by confirming he’ll be in the field at Trump International Golf Links.
The 2018 Masters champion will join a strong Scottish contingent led by defending champion Grant Forrest in the $3 million event at the Aberdeenshire venue on 20-23 August.
Reed, who will be making his Nexo Championship debut on the New Course at US President Donald Trump’s resort, leads the Race to Dubai title race from Rory McIlroy, who has claimed the crown for last four years and is now bidding to equal Colin Montgomerie’s record of eight Harry Vardon Trophy triumphs.

The American has been out in front in the points battle since winning the Hero Dubai Desert Classic and Qatar Masters in quick succession earlier this year, with a second-place finish at the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship in between.
Reed, the world No 31, has since recorded a further four finishes inside the top 15, including a share of 13th place at the Genesis Scottish Open behind Tom Kim at The Renaissance Club last month.
“I’m looking forward to getting back to Scotland and playing my first Nexo Championship,” said the 35-year-old, who left LIV Golf at the end of last season and will soon be eligible again to play in PGA Tour events. “The Scottish fans always make for a great atmosphere.
‘It will be exciting to play a quality course’
“It will be exciting to play a quality course in Trump International Golf Links for the first time, and experience all that this event has to offer.”
In addition to Forrest, Reed will join three-time DP World Tour winner Ewen Ferguson and local man David Law in the field for the concluding event of the DP World Tour’s Closing Swing.
Tickets for the Nexo Championship are now on sale here.
