Kids chance to display their ability

HIBS' charitable arm has teamed up with the SFA to back football for kids with learning disabilities.

Secondary Schools are being encouraged to enter a team of pupils aged S3-S6, with a learning disability, in a South East regional league.

Fixtures will take place four times per academic year and league tables, top goalscorers and reports will be published on the SFA website.

And the Hibernian Community Foundation will support the Disability Schools League so that each school will receive 15 free tickets to see Hibs in action in an SPL game.

Schools will also get a training pack consisting of footballs, training bibs and markers for the season

The first fixtures will be played at the East Mains training centre tomorrow.

Hibs manager John Hughes will be at the final round of games to present trophies to the winners, who will also have the opportunity to compete against teams from other regions.

Hibernian Community Foundation Director, Tom McFarlane said: "We hope that schools throughout the region will recognise the benefits it can bring to their pupils."

Gary Fraser, Scottish Disability Sport Regional Manager added: "The league provides a great opportunity for young people with a disability to play for a school team."
