Grant Forrest 'excited' to tee up Nexo Championship defence on Donald Trump course
Ewen Ferguson and David Law also announced for $3m DP World Tour event in August
Grant Forrest is heading back to Trump International Golf Links later this summer to defend his Nexo Championship title at the Aberdeenshire venue.
The 33-year-old, who received a call from US President Donald Trump after his four-shot success last year, will be joined by compatriots Ewen Ferguson and David Law on 20-23 August.
“This tournament is one that means a lot to me,” admitted Forrest, who also landed his DP World Tour breakthrough on home soil in the 2021 Hero Open at Fairmont St Andrews.

“To win last year in front of a home crowd was really special, and I’m excited to defend my title in a couple of months’ time. It’s always an honour to play in Scotland, and I look forward to what I’m sure will be another great week.”
Three-time DP World Tour winner Ferguson has registered four top-ten finishes so far this season and currently sits 39th on the Race to Dubai Rankings. “There’s no better feeling than playing at home, in front of the Scottish fans,” said Ferguson. “It’s going to be an exciting tournament, with plenty of action on and off the course. Hopefully we can play some great golf to make it even better.”
Aberdonian Law was playing on the HotelPlanner Tour when he teed up in last year’s event but, helped by two wins in 2025, he is now back where he belongs on the main tour.
“The support we receive from our home fans is unmatched, and I have no doubt they will show up in numbers this August, for another great event,” said Law. “It would be pretty special to lift the trophy, just down the road from where I grew up, so I’m looking forward to giving it my best shot.”
This year’s edition will include an increased prize fund of $3 million, while a new celebrity pro-am is being introduced on 19 August.
