SPFL manager suspended amid investigation as club issues 36-word statement on matter
Borough Briggs side announce decision on social media
Elgin City manager have suspended manager Allan Hale with immediate effect, the club has announced.
The League Two outfit revealed on Thursday morning that they have taken the decision to temporarily remove Hale’s duties, pending an ongoing investigation, and that no further comment would be made at this time.
Hale was appointed manager of Elgin City in December 2023 after stints in charge of Maud and Fraserburgh. He led the Moray club to a sixth-placed finish in the fourth tier of Scottish football this season, with their final match a 1-0 defeat at home to Stranraer on Saturday.

But now the Borough Briggs outfit have leapt into the limelight after the 36-word statement confirmed that Hale, 38, has been suspended.
The Elgin communication read: “Elgin City Football Club can confirm that the 1st team manager has been suspended from his duties with immediate effect, pending an ongoing investigation.
“The club will make no further comment until the investigation has concluded.”
Hale led Elgin away from relegation trouble when he took over at the end of 2023 following brief spells in charge from Barry Smith and Ross Draper. He then led the Moray side to the League Two play-offs in 2024/25, as well as facing eventual winners Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup. This season, Elgin challenged for the top four before fading away as the season drew to a conclusion.
In total, Hale has taken charge of 121 Elgin matches.
