Calvin Bassey and Joe Aribo came in to Steven Gerrard’s side while Scott Arfield and Borna Barisic were rested for the win, but there was still a familiar feel to the team – and the goalscorers at the Global Energy Arena – with Kemar Roofe turning in a James Tavernier pass for the first-half lead and then the roles reversed and the captain found the net for his 15th of the season before an own goal from the home side. Jermain Defoe rounded off the scoring in the closing stages.

9. Ryan Kent - 7
Drifted around the attacking third and was so difficult to pick up. Not involved in the goals but threatened and continued to probe the home defence. Photo: Paul Campbell

10. Alfredo Morelos - 7
Maligned through the week, the change from goal poacher to link-up man continues and held the ball up so well for the first gaol. Unlucky not to tap in jut his fourth domestic goal of the season when Morris scored the OG. Photo: Paul Campbell

11. Kemar Roofe - 8
Right place and right time so often for Rangers and just has that goalscoring knack. The striker should have had another two as well as his opener - fired narrowly over shortly afterwards and was well wide with a wild swipe in the second. Photo: Paul Campbell

12. Steven Gerrard - 7
Careful to spread the minutes again and his decision to focus Defoe for domestic duties was rewarded with the late goal from the England international. Photo: Alan Harvey - SNS Group
