Standard Liege had their hosts on the back foot from the start and took an early lead after a ball from the Rangers right was turned in at the front post.
Connor Goldson redeemed himself with an excellent free header to level, but Liege hit back immediately before James Tavernier fired in from the penalty spot on the stroke of half-time to send the teams in level.
Rangers were much improved in the second half and Scott Arfield, whose goal against Galatasaray sent Rangers into the groups, sent them into the knock-out stages by converting Ryan Kent’s cut-back for a 3-2 win.

Back in after a rest at weekend and looked unconvincing in the first half as all the defence did. Improved in the second half. Photo: Craig Foy - SNS Group

Good display from the veteran, especially in the second period where he helped turn the tide as Rangers took control after Liege's attacking first half (Photo by RUSSELL CHEYNE/POOL/AFP via Getty Images) Photo: RUSSELL CHEYNE

7. Glen Kamara - 7
A midfielder for the European stage, perhaps this wasn't quite the game for him to excel but ran his socks off and could hardly be faulted alongside Davis in the middle. Photo: Craig Foy - SNS Group

8. Scott Arfield - 8
Again, there when Rangers need him. Vital input from the midfielder with the winning goal and a hassling chasing performance. Did well on the ball in the second half.(Photo by ANDY BUCHANAN/POOL/AFP via Getty Images) Photo: ANDY BUCHANAN
