Rangers decision QC declares himself bankrupt

A LAWYER who sat in a panel that punished Rangers has declared himself bankrupt.

Gary Allan QC, who received death threats from angered fans after the SFA panel he was part of sentenced the Ibrox team to a 12 month transfer ban and a £160,000 fine, has declared himself bankrupt after accruing debts of over £200,000.

Mr Allan received more than £109,000 in legal aid last year but has declared assets of just £9,964.

Insolvency specialists BDO have been put in charge of his assets in a bid to try to recover money owed to creditors.

It is believed the QC will still be able to practise law as the Faculty of Advocates do not consider Mr Allan’s position to be a disciplinary matter.
