Rangers ‘could’ sack Danny Rohl after split collapse but Ibrox bosses warned of issue that extends beyond him
Rangers head coach Danny Rohl has come under increasing pressure after four successive defeats.
Rangers ‘could’ sack head coach Danny Rohl after seeing their title bid crumble during the split, but have been warned they have bigger problems to solve this summer.
Appointed as Rangers head coach in late October 2025, the German boss took over a side that had fallen 13 points behind league leaders Hearts, but managed to drag his team back into contention for the league title, temporarily going top of the league with a 4-2 win over Dundee United last month.
The bookies’ favourites to win the league ahead of the split fixtures, Rohl has since seen his side’s title challenge collapse at the most crucial point of the season, and sections of the Rangers support are calling for him to be dismissed after losing four consecutive games for the first time in 43 years.

Confirmed to finish third for the first time since the 2017/18 season, former Scotland and Hearts midfielder Robert Snodgrass admits he wouldn’t be surprised to see the Rangers hierarchy dispose of Rohl this summer, but has insisted the club's problems are bigger than just the man in the dugout.
“Rangers have just dropped out of the title race at a vital time,” Snodgrass told OLBG. “Things had been going well up to that point. They were actually in a great position before the split. This year, the split is really exciting for Scotland because of where things are won and lost. Usually, the league is dominated by one of the two Old Firm clubs charging away with it, but now we are seeing Hearts, Motherwell, Hibs, and Falkirk perform amazingly well this season. All of the other clubs are now looking at the situation and realising that with just a little more investment and belief, it could be them. It is great for Scottish football.
“Regarding Danny Rohl, you have to judge him on winning games, which is exactly what he did when he first arrived. That is the culture you have to create. People speak about 'religion' at Celtic and Rangers, but the real religion is simply winning. They need to establish that message within the football club. Now, there is a period of decision-making ahead. I think Danny Rohl wants to stay in the role.”
“Has he has enjoyed the unique challenges you find here compared to managing down south? It is well-documented that the recruitment at Rangers needs to be much better than it has been in recent years. We saw some of that potential at the weekend. Players like Youssef Chermiti caused a lot of problems for Celtic.

“I can see why the club might make a change, but I can also see the argument for giving him the money and the firepower to build on what he has started, because I definitely think he is a really good manager. It is tough when you haven't had a full season and you don't win the league, but Celtic and Rangers are different animals. They are built on the absolute necessity of winning titles and being successful."
