'It's no secret': Tuur Rommens charts Rangers rise and explains what he wants to improve at Ibrox
Belgian enjoying step up after making Ibrox switch from Westerlo
After spending the past three seasons with Westerlo, Rangers left-back Tuur Rommens could have been forgiven for needing a little time to acclimatise to the far grander surroundings at Ibrox.
A mid-table club in Belgium’s Pro League, Westerlo’s Het Kuipje ground holds just over 8,000 people and is certainly a more sedate arena than Govan, where the expectation is to win every single week. Especially in a three-way Premiership title race.
Rangers made four signings during the winter transfer window and Rommens, who cost nearly £4 million, appears to have settled in the best. The Belgium Under-21 internationalist has added an attacking element from left-back and scored his first goal for the club in Sunday’s 1-0 win over St Mirren.

The victory was vital as it moved Rangers to within three points of league leaders Hearts. Eight games remain between now and the end of the campaign as they wrestle with Old Firm rivals Celtic and the Jam Tarts. This is why Rommens made the switch, for the chance to win trophies.
“It's no secret that I hadn't played for a club like Rangers, and I wanted to go here,” explained Rommens. "I want to play for a club like Rangers, and I want to have this feeling, to have this pressure to win every game, and I think I integrate well into the group.
“I try to help the team offensively. also, and I think the last couple of years I haven't scored a lot. I have to score more, but that's an aspect of my game that I have to improve and I know this.
Rommens: Rangers must take it game by game
"I had some good moments. I had some difficult moments, but I'm just happy with my first goal and happy with the win [against St Mirren]."
The victory in Paisley has once again swelled belief that Rangers can be champions. They remain third favourites for the crown but Rommens has seen enough during his two months in Scottish football to make him feels that come mid-May, the trophy will be in blue hands.
"Of course, we have the confidence, but we have to we have to take game by game,” continued Rommens. "I think 24 points to play and we are three behind. So of course, we have the confidence, but we need to take game by game, and then we'll see where we end.
"I think we have a great group. If you see our performance, the last weeks, I think we deserve more points, but it is what it is, and maybe today we didn't play our best game, but we just win, and that's the most important thing. I think we played good games, but it's about winning.”
Rommens accepts that there are mental challenges ahead for Rangers and also their two other rivals. "I think the pressure is always there if you play for a club like Rangers and we just need to need to take game by game,” he added. "The most important thing is to keep calm and we did this against St Mirren and we won so on to the next one."
