Scott McTominay misses Scotland training as reason for absence emerges - and another player away from group
Napoli midfielder suffering from a stomach bug - but should make Haiti
Scott McTominay missed Scotland training on Thursday as he recovers from a stomach bug ahead of the World Cup.
McTominay sat out the morning session due to illness, with the Scotland coaching staff keen for the Napoli midfielder to make a swift recovery and not pass on the bug to anyone else.
It is understood that the Scotland camp are confident McTominay will be available for Sunday’s Group C opener against Haiti. Scotland are currently at their base in Charlotte and will fly to to Boston on Friday to conduct pre-match commitments and train at the stadium in Foxborough.

McTominay has been capped 70 times for Scotland and scored in the 4-0 weekend win over Bolivia in New Jersey. He has emerged as a talismanic figure for the national team and would normally be one of the first names on head coach Steve Clarke’s team sheet.
McTominay will enter a period of recovery before being brought back into the main group.
Another player who was not with the full squad is central defender Scott McKenna, who recently won his 50th cap for Scotland. The Dinamo Zagreb man is recovering from a small knock and underwent an individual training session on his own on Thursday.
McKenna is vying with Grant Hanley, Jack Hendry, John Souttar and Dom Hyam for a place in the starting XI against Haiti, with Clarke expected to deploy a back four for the opening match.
