Scotland's World Cup venues and kick-off times confirmed as fans back home hit with rough schedule
Scots to play two matches in Boston and then head to Miami
Scotland will open their World Cup campaign against Haiti at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, near Boston, after FIFA confirmed venues and kick-off times for the group stages of next year’s tournament.
After Friday’s World Cup draw, Scotland were placed in Group C of the competition alongside Brazil, Morocco and the Haitians. And now head coach Steve Clarke and his players know their exact schedule next summer.
Scotland’s first match will be against Haiti and will be played at Gillette Stadium on Saturday, June 13 at 9pm local time - but 2am on Sunday, June 14 back in Scotland.

Scotland will remain in the Boston area for their second match against Morocco, which is on Friday, June 19. Kick-off at the Gillette Stadium will be at 6pm local time (11pm in Scotland).
Scotland’s final group match takes place on Wednesday, June 24 against Brazil. That game will be played at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, with a 6pm local kick-off (11pm in Scotland).
Tartan Army supporters who will follow the tournament back home will be disappointed that the matches will be played so late at night. TV broadcast picks will be announced in due course.
The Gillette Stadium has a capacity of 64,628, while the Hard Rock Stadium holds 64,767 spectators.
Should Scotland progress from the group stages for the first time in the nation’s history, they have three potential paths.
If they finish top of the standings, they would face the runner-up of Group F, which is seeded to be Japan, in Houston on Monday, June 29. If they are runners-up, the Scots would face the winner of Group F, which is seeded to be Netherlands, in Guadalajara on the same day.
Scotland could also progress as one of eight best third-placed teams. There are three potential outcomes for Scotland: the winner of Group E (seeded to be Germany) in Boston, also on June 29, the winner of Group I (seeded to be France) in New York on Tuesday, June 30 or the winner of Group A (seeded to be hosts Mexico) in Mexico City on June 30. The outcome will only be confirmed once the identity of the eight nations are known.
Clarke and his Scotland coaches are now turning their attentions to finding a suitable training base for the finals. Scotland will also look to finalise their friendly schedule. They are due to play two matches in March and two before the World Cup in late May/early June.
