Scotland return to action for the first time since their group-stage exit from the World Cup this month as new head coach Sebastien Pocognoli gets his reign underway in the Nations League.
A difficult summer saw long-serving boss Steve Clarke step down from his position following Scotland’s elimination from the World Cup in June, where he was later replaced by the Belgian, whose first task is to pick up points from the country’s opening Nations League game against Slovenia on September 26.
Clashes against Switzerland and North Macedonia also beckon as Scotland enters a new era under Pocognoli, and many are asking which players will be cut from the squad that travelled to the United States this summer as the 39-year-old reveals his inaugural squad at Hampden Park next week.
But whose squad place is in doubt under the new boss? Which players will drop out of the reckoning, and be replaced by new names and fresh faces?
Ahead of the games with Slovenia, Switzerland and North Macedonia over the next few weeks, we look at which 11 players could miss out on Scotland call-ups in Pocognoli’s first squad.

1. Tyler Fletcher - Manchester United
Included in the Scotland squad for the World Cup as a shock replacement for the injured Billy Gilmour, the teenager made sporadic appearances for Manchester United in pre-season, but has started the campaign playing academy football. 2. Grant Hanley - Hibs
The experienced centre-back has been a solid servant for Scotland but has come in for criticism for his performances over the last few months. Injured against St Johnstone last week, the 34-year-old will be one of the key names sweating over his inclusion in the squad next week. | Getty Images Photo: Getty Images

3. Liam Kelly - Rangers
Kelly's went to the World Cup as one of Scotland's back-up goalkeepers despite barely playing for Rangers in the months before the tournament. The ex-Motherwell stopper remains extremely short on match fitness having not played a minute at Ibrox this season, and Pocognoli could opt someone else in the goalkeeping department as a result. | SNS Group Photo: SNS Group

4. Lyndon Dykes - Millwall
The former Livingston man has endured a nomadic last couple of seasons, and currently plays for Millwall after signing from rivals Charlton Athletic on a free transfer in the summer. Dykes has two goals in his first five appearances at the Den, but is another whose place in the Scotland squad will be brought into question as he approaches his 31st birthday. | Getty Images Photo: Getty Images
