There is no better opportunity for youngsters breaking through at Scottish clubs than the coming 2020/21 season. And, equally, there is no better opportunity for clubs to switch their focus to developing academy talents.
This coming campaign will see clubs operating with tighter than normal budgets and smaller squads as they feel the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. Behind closed door games mean a lack of gate receipt and smaller revenues. But on the positive side, it should create a space for young talents to get more game time, earn experience and even make a name for themselves.

17. Kai Kennedy (Rangers)
The 18-year-old is expected to make the step up and be involved in the first-team fold this season having had a taste of action last campaign. A diminutive and exciting creative player, he can play wide or centrally. Rangers are keen to tie him down to a new contract. Photo: Craig Foy- SNS Group

18. Olly Hamilton (St Johnstone)
The Perth Saints have confirmed their switch to a focus on youth and Hamilton was one of a handful of players to pen a new deal with the club. Ali McCann, Jason Kerr and Liam Gordon have all led the way in making the move into the first team. Hamilton has impressed in an attacking sense for Saints’ youth teams and spent last season with Brechin to gain experience. Photo: SNS Group Paul Devlin

19. Jay Henderson (St Mirren)
The Buddies have been prolific at promoting promising talent in recent years. From John McGinn to Lewis Morgan, while Cameron MacPherson has impressed massively since making the step into the first team. There are a few who look like having the potential to follow in their footsteps, especially Henderson, a crafty, attacker. Photo: Craig Foy - SNS Group
