PFA Scotland player of the year shortlist unveiled
DUNDEE striker Greg Stewart has made the shortlist for the PFA Scotland player of the year award in his first season in full-time football.
Stewart joins Aberdeen striker Adam Rooney and Celtic’s Virgil van Dijk and Stefan Johansen on the four-man shortlist.
The 25-year-old has netted 15 goals this season to help Dundee to a top-six finish in the Scottish Premiership after joining from part-time Championship side Cowdenbeath in the summer.
Rooney has scored 27 goals in all competitions while midfielder Johansen has 12 goals and has played an increasingly influential role in the Celtic midfield.
Van Dijk has hit 10 goals from central defence after following up an impressive debut season.
His Celtic defensive partner Jason Denayer has been named on the shortlist for young player of the year.
The Belgium international is joined by Inverness playmaker Ryan Christie and Hearts midfielders Sam Nicholson and Jamie Walker.
The winners - voted by their fellow professionals - will be announced on May 3.
