The transfer window is now closed following another dramatic deadline day in the Scottish Premiership, with Celtic, Rangers, and Aberdeen all making big-money moves on Monday.
However, there’s no doubting that Celtic fans have been left feeling a little short-changed, with no striker coming in the door, and Adam Idah joined Swansea City for a reported fee of £6million. For Brendan Rodgers, the free agent market may be his last hope of adding to his frontline. The likes of Rangers, Hearts, and Hibs are surely scouring the market too, with bargains still to be had for players out of contract.
But who are the best players currently available to Scottish Premiership clubs as free agents? Here, The Scotsman looks at 15 of the best free agents still able to move clubs, including a former £40million Champions League winner, and an 18-goal hotshot midfielder...

13. Allan Campbell
Departed Dundee United following the expiry of his short-term contract in June, and was tentatively linked with a return to Tannadice. Deadline day came and went with the one cap Scotland international finding a new club, despite strong links to Millwall. 14. Craig Dawson
A veteran of 303 English Premier League games, the 35-year-old has been a steady and strong option at West Bromwich Albion, West Ham United, and Wolves in recent years. He's definitely in the category of short-term, but is a classy, experienced, and hard-working centre-back that could definitely plug a gap for numerous Scottish clubs. | Wolves via Getty Images Photo: Getty Images

15. Diego Laxalt
Remember this guy? Laxalt spent a year on loan to Celtic during the 2021/21 season, playing 17 times before returning to AC Milan. He's spent the last four seasons playing for Russian outfit Dynamo Moscow. Has struggled with injury of late and had his contract mutually terminated a fortnight ago. Not of the quality required for a top six club, he could provide an experienced and cheap option for those battling against relegation, should he be able to return to full fitness. | SNS Group Photo: Craig Williamson - SNS Group
