It may not have been a vintage performance from Neil Lennon’s side, who were twice pegged back by their Championship opposition, but it was nonetheless a historic achievement for the Parkhead club, and a momentous moment for Scottish football.
Here’s how the Celtic players rated:
Player ratings scale - 10: One of the best performances you have seen. 9: Outstanding. 8: Very good. 7: Good. 6: Average. 5: Poor, 4: Very poor. 3: A terrible day at the office. 2: Abysmal. 1: One of the worst performances you've seen.

9. David Turnbull - 6
Never hit the heights of his recent displays but still had positive impact with set piece delivery leading to first half penalty. Was the first to be replaced in the second half after Hearts equalised. Photo: Craig Williamson - SNS Group

10. Mohamed Elyounoussi - 5
Little to review as he was barely in the game. A few decent runs but rarely threatened the Hearts defence. Replaced by Frimpong on 83 minutes. Photo: Craig Williamson - SNS Group

11. Odsonne Edouard - 6
Panenka penalty oozed class but failed to dominate the Hearts centre-halves and missed chances that he would have scored last season. Hooked for Griffiths in extra-time. Photo: Craig Foy - SNS Group

12. Tom Rogic - 6
Replaced Turnbull after Hearts equalised and made a positive impact in the final third, almost grabbing the winner in the final moments of extra-time. Photo: Rob Casey - SNS Group
