East Coast Catering is the exclusive sole caterer for this breathtaking venue – a true hidden gem that they plan to bring to life with our food and service.

Duntarvie Castle has a history dating back more than 800 years with links to Mary, Queen of Scots.

The owners have invested heavily in revitalising the estate, and its grounds are shaping up to be a real destination for couples planning their big day.

The first Open Day will be held on Saturday October 25, between 10am and 3pm – a great opportunity for people to see the space and meet the expert caterers.

An historic setting

The Duntarvie Castle site dates back over 800 years. The Scots Renaissance mansion has a rich history, previously been the residence of the both the Lindsay and Durham families.

In the 16th century, Alexander Durham and his heirs were given several royal appointments. Mary, Queen of Scots’ granted the position of ‘Master of the Prince’s Wardrobe’ to Alexander. Prince James would later become King James VI and I, and therefore Alexander was responsible for the royal tailoring.

By 1826 the house was in need of urgent repair. It was uninhabited from the 1840s, and by the 20th century, it was ruinous and roofless.

In the late 20th century the castle was purchased by kiltmaker Geoffrey Nicholsby. Alongside their shop on Edinburgh’s historic Royal Mile, the tailoring workshops are now based at Duntarvie Castle.
