Malcolm Allan Ltd, the renowned Scottish Lorne sausage, steak pie and black pudding producer, has undergone a major rebrand to create a contemporary new look that reflects its family butcher tradition as a trusted supplier of the finest products.

The eye-catching new navy, gold and white logo and packaging underlines the many decades of family butcher knowledge that has gone into perfecting the Malcolm Allan range, as well as the company’s proud Scottish heritage

Gordon Robinson, Site Director at Malcolm Allan said: “The rebrand marks a major new chapter in the company’s 71-year-old history, reflecting our proud Scottish roots and tradition as a trusted high-quality food manufacturer. Our key message in the rebrand is that we have great new look but with the same great taste.”

A proud history

The firm was founded by Malcolm Allan in 1954 as a family butcher shop in Bonnybridge, which expanded over the following years until there were 20 retail outlets throughout Central Scotland, the bulk of which were run by staff who had started with the company from school. During this period, Malcolm Allan said - “We don’t sell anything which is not good enough for our own family” – an ethos that still underpins everything the company does today.

Having moved away from the butcher shop business, Malcolm Allan now employs over 100 people at its modern processing facility in Larbert in central Scotland, supplying its valued customers with a broad range of products, including Lorne (square) sausage, steak pies, black pudding, burgers, sausages and other traditional meat lines.

The rebrand includes a switch to recyclable cardboard packaging for the Malcolm Allan steak pie range that comprises specially selected cuts of beef braised to a traditional recipe in a rich gravy, topped with hand-made crispy puff pastry.

“Our great tasting, premium and affordable steak pies are the same quality as found in butcher shops and our Lorne sausages are so popular that we are Scotland’s largest producer of this iconic product,” said Gordon Robinson.

Gordon Robinson added: “Our customers are extremely important to us and the success of Malcolm Allan has been built upon their loyalty which is based upon our shared passion for high quality, great tasting food. We are proudly Scottish and look forward to the future with immense confidence as we continue to offer consumers our delicious Lorne sausage, steak pies, black pudding and other fabulous butchery products.”
