Behind every great business are real people with passions, hopes and dreams, and a busy life beyond the boardroom. And for Edinburgh entrepreneur Mildret Ramirez Gomez, being grateful to her colleagues, clients and fellow business community is a year round aim.

As we approach the end of the year, it becomes natural to reflect not only on business performance but also on the people who shape every step of the journey.

For directors, managers and team leaders across all industries, the demands of leadership are significant and often unseen. Behind the strategies, schedules and responsibilities, there is a human being working tirelessly to balance duty, ambition and personal purpose.

And for Mildret Ramirez Gomez, director at FlexiCleanGroup, who has built her ever-expanding cleaning company from scratch, being grateful for those around her and making sure she tells them so is a driving force for her and the ethos her business thrives on.

She said: “At FlexiClean Group Ltd, our journey has always been grounded in our people. We remain deeply grateful for the clients who have trusted us throughout Scotland, enabling us to grow, innovate and deliver consistently high standards. To our existing clients, thank you for your loyalty. To organisations considering working with us, we extend a warm invitation: FlexiClean is a company driven by integrity, service excellence and genuine care for those we work with.”

She says valuing those she works with is key to success in business, and she would encourage other business people to follow that lead.

“A major strength of our organisation is our longstanding workforce. Many of our employees have been with us for years, contributing their experience, professionalism and unwavering dedication. Their loyalty reflects the culture we have built — one that values stability, respect and opportunities for development. FlexiClean is not only a reliable service provider but also a supportive and rewarding place to work.”

As an entrepreneur she is passionate in everything she does, from building the right team around her to keeping clients happy – and that includes evolving her business to deliver more, including her new cleaning supplies company.

“This year has also marked notable progress through the success of KLINYA, our innovative cleaning initiative. KLINYA represents our commitment to continual improvement and future-focused solutions. It is a symbol of what is possible when experienced staff, loyal clients and a clear vision align. We are excited to see the next phase of KLINYA unfold as we move into 2026.”

Supporting children around the world

But leadership extends beyond business, says Mildret, and her determination to support those less fortunate than her and beyond the borders her business works in in crucial to her own visions of service.

“My commitment to charity work, particularly in Colombia and across South America, has played a major role in defining my approach to leadership. Every year, especially during the Christmas season, we organise support for children in vulnerable communities — including festive parties, nativities, gifts and essential resources.

These initiatives remind me that leadership is ultimately about service: using what we have to uplift others, create joy and build hope where it is needed most.

A life outside of business

While Mildret is undoubtedly 100 per cent focussed on delivering for her staff, clients and suppliers, she knows that the elusive work life balance makes everything she does better, and that balancing fun alongside a corporate life brings joy to everything she does.

She added: “Dance has remained an important part of my life — a passion that brings balance, creativity and personal fulfilment. This week, I will perform my first Teatro play in Rome, a milestone that reflects the harmony between professional dedication and personal growth. These experiences reinforce the idea that leaders are not defined solely by their responsibilities; they are also shaped by the passions and values that guide them.”

A final thank you

People are what life is all about, as far as Flexiclean is concerned. People you work with, people you love, people you support along the way. Mildret added: “As Christmas approaches, I want to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who has contributed to our ongoing success. To our clients, thank you for trusting FlexiClean Group Ltd with your spaces and operations. To our staff, thank you for your loyalty, professionalism and the dedication you have shown year after year. And to future clients and team members, we look forward to welcoming you into a company built on people, purpose and partnership.

“Wishing you all a peaceful Christmas and a prosperous New Year. May 2026 bring continued growth, meaningful opportunities and renewed optimism for us all.”
