Glasgow may not be able to claim as many ghosts as Edinburgh - reputedly one of the most haunted places in Britain - but there have still been plenty of accounts of strange goings-on recorded through the years.
From poltergeists and ‘white ladies’, to ghostly pub regulars and haunted school playgrounds, there are no shortage of tall tales told by Glaswegians.

5. Dalmarnock Road
In 1972 it was reported that a man wearing black trousers and a blue coat had jumped off the bridge over the Clyde on Dalmarnock Road. This was no suicide attempt though - the man vanished into thin air. | Google Maps

6. High Street
In the 1990s a resident of a flat overlooking the High Street - and one of their friends - reported looking out and seeing not one ghost, but a multitude. They saw nothing less than a full Victorian street scene complete with horse-drawn carriages and people wearing old-fashioned clothes. It supposedly happened three times and lasted around 10 minutes on each occasion. It's a phenomenon paranormal investigators call a 'time slip'. | Google Maps

7. Gibson Street
In 1958 Gibson Street, in the leafy West End, was the subject of a fair amount of media attention due to the unimaginatively-named Gibson Street Poltergeist. Three students claimed to have been driven from their flat by a violent ghost who would throw around objects, make goulish noises and play music from an unplugged radio. Some drink may have also been involved. | Google Maps

8. Ingram Street
In the former Hutchesons' Hall, on the city centre's Ingram Street, workers reported seeing a 'grey lady', thought to have seen the spirit of the wife of a former caretaker, who would open and close foors and be seen looking out of windows. There would also be ghostly footsteps frequently heard at night as recently as 2005. | Google Maps
