Alan Cumming to front TV show to entice Americans to Scotland
SCOTS celebrity Alan Cumming will host a TV show to entice Americans to visit his native country
The X-Men actor will take a tour of Scotland on camera alongside US presenter George Oliphant in an episode of NBC’s 1st Look travel show, expected to reach up to six million American homes.
The half hour episode will feature some of his favourite Scottish haunts, including a return to his home town of Aberfeldy in Perthshire.
The episode will also feature segments on Edinburgh, golf and Scotland’s famous food and drink.
Cumming said: “I always love coming back to Scotland and I always love it when my American friends ask me about it.
“So now I get to come and shoot a show where I both revel in Scotland and show it off to my friends back in the States - a double whammy.”
Malcolm Roughead, chief executive of Visit Scotland, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the rich tapestry of what Scotland has to offer visitors through the eyes of one of its most famous sons.
“The USA is a diaspora stronghold and was last year’s biggest international market for trips to Scotland.”
