Sustainable countryside home near Shaftesbury unveiled as the latest grand prize in a charity fundraising draw
Charity-based prize-draw company Raffle House has unveiled its latest grand prize - a £2.5 million dream home in Dorset.
Set within more than 7.5 acres of land, the property near Shaftesbury spans 4,777 sq ft and is surrounded by landscaped gardens that blend into wild Dorset parkland.
Despite its traditional design, the home has been crafted three years ago to be entirely self-sufficient, with all its energy needs met by a 25kW solar panel system, supported by batteries and an air-source heat pump. There's even a back-up generator in case of emergencies.
Its picturesque setting offers views out to Hambledon Hill, an Iron Age hillfort, and its formal terrace is south-west facing to enjoy maximum sunshine.
The interior opens into a large hallway with high ceilings, and there's a 38ft open-plan living space with a country-style kitchen, sitting area and dining room.

A more formal drawing room features a stone chimneypiece, and the ground floor also offers another reception room, a cloakroom and a boot room.
The house has five bedrooms on the first floor, including a master suite with an en-suite bathroom and dressing area.
The main guest bedroom is also en-suite, and a third bathroom serves the remaining three bedrooms.
The prize includes stamp duty, legal fees and all the furnishings, and anyone who enters has the opportunity to donate to one of Raffle House's charity partners at no extra costs.
Tickets to enter the draw start at £10 for 15, or there are bigger bundles and subscription deals which offer more tickets for the money.
It's also possible to enter for free, with a single-ticket postal entry. All you need is a stamp.
The house was launched at the start of March, and early entrants are also offered the chance to add a £60,000 Land Rover prize to their dream home at no extra cost. To be in with a shout of this bonus prize, you need to buy tickets by the end of March. Ticket sales for the Dorset house close on April 30 and a winner will be chosen shortly after.
