Swan ‘develops attachment’ to helicopter
A SWAN has been grounded in Jersey after developing an attachment to a Eurocopter EC155.
Whooper, who roams the skies of the Les Mielles Golf and Country Club on Jersey, sadly lost his mate, and has reportedly been looking for a new one.
The bird appeared to have become attached to the helicopter which lands on a nearby airstrip.
Whooper regularly flew up to try and reach the chopper, sparking fears that the bird may get caught by the helicopter’s rotor blades.
Staff have subsequently had to make the decision to clip Whooper’s wings.
Whooper, who is named after the whooper swan, is the only member of his species at the golf club.
Whooper swans usually stay with their partner for life. It is hoped that he will one day find a swan to mate with.
