New BBC boss Tony Hall will start work at the corporation on Tuesday 2 April.
Acting director general Tim Davie e-mailed BBC staff yesterday to confirm Lord Hall’s starting date, which he said would “allow Tony to join the BBC ready for business immediately after Easter”.
