Female passenger who sexually assaulted man on train in Glasgow triggers witness appeal
Passengers who may have challenged assailant sought by British Transport Police
A woman who sexually assaulted a man on a train in Glasgow has prompted a witness appeal by British Transport Police (BTP).
In the highly unusual incident to have been reported, BTP said she assaulted the man as he walked through a carriage on a ScotRail cross-city service between Dalmuir in West Dunbartonshire and Larkhall in South Lanarkshire.

BTP detectives are appealing for witnesses to the incident just before 9.30pm on Saturday October 3 to contact the force.
A BTP spokesperson said the suspect was not being sought at this stage.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 959 of 3 October.”
Latest BTP figures show sexual offences on the Scottish rail network increased by 30 per cent to 26 between April and June compared to the same period last year.
The force said the majority involved men assaulting women.
Just over half the cases were solved - an 11 percentage point reduction on 2025.
Incidents of violence against women and girls increased by 16 per cent to 64, with a similarly reduced clear-up rate.
BTP said it continued to “prioritise targeted, intelligence-led policing activity to address violence, anti-social behaviour and repeat offending, with a particular focus on reducing assaults on rail staff and violence against women and girls.”
