The brand’s creative director said opening a store in the Scottish capital had been a “long-held goal”.
A US fashion brand loved by celebrities including Taylor Swift has revealed the opening date of its first ever Scottish store.
The vintage-inspired brand’s debut store is set to open its doors on Edinburgh’s George Street on January 23, the fashion magazine Drapers revealed on Tuesday.
Free People is known for its signature boho styles, specialising in cowboy boots, coin belts, fringe and suede.

Swift is a known fan of the brand and has been spotted sporting its looks on several occasions.
Other famous faces who have been seen wearing Free People outfits include Selena Gomez, Kaia Gerber, Hilary Duff, Chrissy Teigen, Ariana Grande, and Jennifer Lopez.
The new 7,974 sq ft store spans two floors, with FP Movement, the brand’s activewear range, receiving its own dedicated floor.
A number of partner brands will be available to buy in the store, including the wool accessories brand Clòimh - founded by Scottish designer and influencer Hollie Mercedes Peters.
The brand also said it had designed a pink, green and plum coloured tartan fabric which will feature across the store to mark its Scottish debut.
Free People senior creative director Leighanne Jones, said: “Edinburgh’s aesthetic and lifestyle feel naturally aligned with Free People, making this location an exciting and long-held goal for the brand.
“This boutique brings together our core collections, FP Movement, and locally relevant partner brands like Clòimh, all thoughtfully curated for the Edinburgh community.”
