Her family announced the death on Instagram

Pam Hogg, the Scottish fashion designer whose creations have been worn by the likes of Lady Gaga and Kate Moss, has died.

In a statement on Instagram, the Paisley-born designer’s family said they were “deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved Pamela”.

"We are grateful in the knowledge that her final hours were peaceful and surrounded by the loving care of cherished friends and family. We wish to thank all the staff of St Joseph's Hospice, Hackney for the beautiful support they provided for Pamela in her final days.

"Pamela's creative spirit and body of work touched the lives of many people of all ages, and she leaves a magnificent legacy that will continue to inspire, bring joy and challenge us to live beyond the confines of convention. Pamela will continue to live in our hearts and minds. A glorious life lived and loved."

Hogg, who was aged in her 60s, spoke to The Scotsman earlier in the year about being considered a “Scottish style icon”. As well as a designer she was an artist, singer, and film maker.

“I was lucky enough to catch the eye of important magazines who interviewed me from the moment I started, and I spoke my mind, so I guess that was refreshing in a conformist sea of "pleasing and pretend". I'm also self-taught, and fought many barriers over the years so I think it's given others inspiration, a feeling of connection at least.”

Her designs have been worn by a host of celebrities including Rihanna, Naomi Campbell, Siouxsie Sioux, Debbie Harry, Björk, and Taylor Swift.

On her favourite person to design for, she said: “I actually design for myself; I visualise what I'd like to wear, or I create a fantasy and let it take me to its conclusion when eventually a chosen model steps into it days before a show.”
